A little about me...

Hello, I’m Leiko Hidaka.

Since 2016, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside mothers and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—always with the intention of offering real, respectful, and evidence-based care. What began as my work as a DONA International–certified birth doula has grown into an international practice. Today, I hold the title of Certified Global Doula™ with the International Registry of Midwives.

My training includes certification as an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, completion of an intensive midwifery skills program at Escuela Dar a Luz in Puerto Rico, and a university-specific master’s degree in Obstetric Nursing. Over the years, I’ve supported more than 300 families in both hospital and home birth settings—always honoring mother and baby as the true protagonists of birth, and working to ensure each experience is safe, positive, and empowering.

Beyond individual care, I collaborate in perinatal education and advocacy, with a focus on respectful birth, breastfeeding, prevention of unnecessary cesareans, and promoting VBAC. I’ve served as International Coordinator for ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) and currently lead its chapter in the Dominican Republic.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: every birth deserves respect, and every mother deserves the right to live it as a transformative experience—whatever path that birth may take.
